I just had one built for F-Class 600 and 1000yrd. I went with a 700 LA. I had a Bartlein barrel put on, but will have a Brux for the next barrel. I went with the long action because my gunsmith had a reamer with a long throat that wouldn't have functioned as well in a SA.

--I bought the complete 700 in .270 at a local sporting goods store for $350.00 used...though I don't believe it had been shot.

I use a Surgeon action, and recommend it for Tactical build, my chamber started life with a 139 Scenar touching the lands at 2.150 Ojive, now after 1800 rounds I'm at 2.185 Ojive, which is still below 2.8coal, launch speed is 2810.

It depends on what your intended use of the rifle will be. Different tools for different jobs.
