remember that cherry stock? Well, I put it in my wife's hands.....

And this is what she did with it today. It was only her second egg shoot and she shot it perfect, breaking all ten eggs at 200 yards and then hitting all four paint-balls in the tie-breaker. Notice I let her use the best rest (SEB NEO), the best scope (S&B 50x PMII), the newest barrel (only 237 rounds on it after the match), etc. I wanted to give her every encouragement to keep coming to the matches with me.

The cherry stock is from a tree I cut down in the early 90's. The stock was cut and finished by my friend Brent Lidgard (Mishawaka, IN) and I bedded in the action. The action is a Pierce Engineering 700 clone with a 30BR Krieger barrel chambered by Pierce Engineering and a Jewell trigger.

Yes, I was warned that if I taught her how to shoot she would end up beating me.......

Cool! I did the same thing with my girlfriend. She now holds the agg record at 500 meters for the club. :( How many people show up for an egg shoot? Do you always shoot at 200? What are the rules?
Thanks
Alex

Yes, centerfire is always 200 because that is all they have at Hillsdale, MI. There is a great bunch of guys that shoot at Hillsdale. There is usually 8 or 10 shooters, but I have seen as many as 20. The cool thing is that they have a match 3 Sundays a month all summer. There is the egg shoot, the Varmint match (20 shots at 3/4" bull) and the 'blue egg challenge' (20 shots at .55" bull). They use best edge scoring. I've only seen one target with 20 bulls eyes (200 + Xs) shot in the two years I've been going there, and it was shot with a stock Savage LRPV 6BR!

It's a two hour drive one way for me, but I seldom miss a match. There are other guys who come there who are pretty much in the same boat. It's not easy to find close by, well run centerfire benchrest varmint for score and egg shoot matches.

There are a couple of clubs near Kalamazoo that do, but those guys shoot on weekdays. How can anyone drive any distance after work on a weekday and make their match? Maybe they don't want people coming in from all over like they would do for a weekend match.

Here's the Hillsdale club website. I found them with a google search a couple years ago.
