Remage or pre-fit actions

Howdy Guys.

It's that season again. Do you guys have any recommendations for actions with a remington 700 long action footprint that can take pre-fit barrels? Is it better to try to find a custom 700 la receiver that doesn't have an integral recoil lug and then swap it to a remage lug, or to get a nice action designed to take pre-fits. Some people here have previously recommended the Zermatt actions as well as the ARC mousingfield, which seems to be out of production. I'll take any advice you guys have.

Thanks, J.U.

Zermatt, Mack Bros, Kauger. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want an action that can't take prefits.

You can still have your smith measure it and chamber a barrel specifically to it for a shouldered barrel, or use a nut if you want.

What does 'better' mean in this case? I.e., what would make it better for you?

Anyone fondle the Weatherby 307 action?
I have one in the shop right now. I am thinking will chamber it this week. Seems ok. Bolt comes apart a little different. Also if you get one make sure you have trigger pins as the action does not come with them. Seems like every other Remington clone.
I agree on the Mack bros action, they are quite nice. As well as the kelbly atlas, the new Prometheus has integrated lug and more tenon threads.

I have a 1985 dated Rem 700 long acton 06 gun to tear down for a donor action. With a 35 Whelen barrel contoured. How well will the Remage barrel setup actually shoot?
My minimum shop build standard is to build then tear down if it will not do .5" groups at 100.
I have the trunions to true the action threads, recut the threads standard or .010 oversize and the nuts plus the ,250 recoil lugs standard and oversized already.

I know the single barrel setup I build will shoot .25 because I have done dozens of those, but have not done a Remage barrel with the nut, setup, as yet.If it will not shoot, then there is no sense in fooling with it.

They shoot the same as the shoulder. If you can make a barrel that shoots zeros, the nut won't change that.

Kauger Arms. Hands down across the board the best action on the market for the price. Maybe at any price really.
If I don't end up going with that long action in the classifieds next month then I'll check out the kaugers! Not an issue with those in stainless steel, but do you have to worry about galvanic corrosion on any of the titanium actions?

Never heard of any. If you get a Kauger and need a prefit let me know.
