RemAge conversion & recoil lug ??

When converting a Rem 700. to a swap Bbl. RemAge system, it an aftermarket recoil lug required or necessary ??, the reason I ask, When I have the Bbl. broken loose I can have the Rem. recoil lug "pinned" to the receiver, or wait till I settle on what Bbl./bbls. I want and order the nut & .250" recoil lug and have it pinned .
Thank you

You can use the stock one but aftermarket ones are flatter. You can buy an alignment tool for cheap at midway or brownells.

Buy a barrel, lug, and nut at the same time from the same people the barrel comes from. No need to pin the receiver, just buy the correct action wrench.

Get a quality lug and have it pinned, it makes swapping barrels much easier. Good luck

I picked up a lug & Criteron 260 bbl from Jim at Northland. Before I installed it I checked the lug thickness at 5 or 6 points. I was impressed! It didn't vary by .0001 anywhere.

Pin it if u plan on swapping barrels at the range /match if you don't plan on changing in the field buy the tool dusty was referring to from midway .

Unless its glued in i would use the tool every time. If its glued in you wont have a lug anyway but if you are going that far im guessing you wouldnt be looking at a barrel nut anyway

Is there anything wrong with pinning the lug Dusty? I guess I mean is there a reason not to other than the cost and trouble to do it? Will that tool get the lug in the same place every time? Just trying to learn.

The alignment tool may vary .001 unless it fits the lug perfect and they rarely do..
That alone will cause you problems..
Just good insurance with pinning it.....

Pinning is always better for alignment. Its just an added cost i dont feel is needed. A switch barrel rifle always ends up being a rifle you shoot with one barrel with some barrels over there somewhere anyway
