Remage barrels?

I have a rifle that is just begging to be Remaged, if that is in fact a word. I wanted to look at all the prefit barrel makers and make a choice for my rifle. Who makes prefits to remage a Remington action?

I've had good luck with mine in 6x47L shot GREAT.

Northlanders is the place to go. I think he runs it solo. I have called early in the morning and woke him up before no kidding, I said Id call back and he said give me a minute and hell run down stairs to see if he had what I wanted in stock.....Jim is a great guy to deal with....VERY HONEST

+1 for Jim, I have had excellent service from him. He sells everything it takes to do a Remage.

+1 for Jim. Great service - very nice product. Just set a new 6.5x284 barrel on my Savage action. I don't see the downside to the barrel nut system. Very accurate.

I thought it was sacrilegious to put a barrel nut on a Remington. Someone told me years back when I started shooting Savage's that my barrel and nut would blow off and be down range. I still lol on that one, quite a few firearm manufacturers have learned of the advantage of the NUT.....

Limits barrel diameter...I am still new to this so I may be wrong...I like the idea of the nut though lots of very accurate rifles wearing one out there. Great way to start out on a budget also that's what really got me started on them. I was given a wore out POS .270 as a gift and put a Adams and Bennett 22-250 barrel from Midway on and thought it was the coolest thing about 15 years ago. I was scared to shoot it because I did the work so I fired about 10 rounds with a shoe string out in the desert in Yuma Arizona before I put my face next to it lol.

Yea when Dgd6mm, teele1 and I built our 260s we shot them with a string tie wired to one of my saw horses. What was I thinking Donny when I walk down to check my target at the SO range I find a barrel nut every now and then.

What are the "negatives", if I may ask? I am assuming that they can't shoot as well as a custom, but how well can they do?

The negative's in my opinion is it limits barrel diameter and you have that barrel nut hanging out there. The barrel nut doesn't bother me but some people hate it. You may have to modify the stock slightly for the nut. I have had a couple that shot great brother. I don't know of any cut rifle barrels with the nut setup. Sure makes it easy to have a switch barrel setup on a budget....

The biggest negative IMO for a Remington. Is the average guy getting the factory barrel off without ruining his action.

not as easy as one may think
