REM700 Bolt Shroud Question

I recently purchased a Remington 700 .308 benchrest rifle at auction. I build custom 700's frequently but I have never seen this bolt shroud modification. Anyone out there know what the function of the 2 screws is? Thanks in advance!

Keeps the cocking piece centered in the groove in the receiver and from letting the back of the bolt fall as far...but looks like your bolt is bushed too.
