Rem Action

I was wondering if it is possible to put a repeater 700 action on a single shot stock. Also, is a single shot more accurate than a repeater? Other than the fact that you cant seat the bullet into the lands if say I was shooting a 6br.

I would be inclined to believe that a single shot has more potential for having superior accuracy as opposed to a repeater simply because the action has more integrity! There is more metal there to reduce the external stresses that an action may endure and also there is more surface present to bed the action to a stock! I have no data to back up my opinion but, there is a reason why all the after market target actions are single shot actions. As far as the repeater action in a single shot stock, if the action screw spacing is the same, recoil lug placement, etc... There shouldn't be a problem!

Josh, yes, you can do that. There are single-shot filler pieces that you can epoxy in place to create a loading ramp. I just did that on a long action 700.

Josh.
I was concerned about possible differences in accuracy but I haven't seen anything with my two rifles. One is a Nesika K single shot and the other a trued Remington 700 Short action with the filler piece German described. Both are chambered for 284 Shehane with similar 31 inch straight 1.250 inch barrels, so if stiffness was an issue, I think I would have seen it with one of those barrels. If anything, the Remington shoots better than the Nesika but so many factors effect any individual session that I really couldn't say there is an accuracy difference, all other things equal. If I was starting from scratch, I would go with a single shot custom action without question, but if you already have something you like, then go with it.

I would think that you will be able to seat the 6mm br bullet into the lands and still fit in the mag well. The 6br case is very short.
