Rem action questions

Have a project in mind, but need a bit of info. Say, on a short action 700, is the difference between a 223 bolt face gun and a 308 bolt face gun, the bolts naturally and the followers?

I don't have a 223 bolt face action to spare, but do have a 308 action I can use.

your 308 face is too large to control the 223 case, also the firing pin will be larger.

you need to get a 222/223 bolt or have a smith sleeve the one you haveto get it to work

Have a spare .223 SA bolt, so not a concern there, just about feeding the smaller case. Would I just need to change the follower for things to work, or do I need to find an action using the 223 bolt face.

Rem 700 feeding is controlled by the magazine box and follower, not feed rails. The FP is the same. So, to convert from a 222 case head to a 308 case head you will need the correct bolt face, box, and follower.
