Rem 700SA - Contour & Length Q's

Folks,

About to order a barrel from Krieger and want to ensure I do whats best w/out messing something up on my first 6BR.

I want to hang the longest & heaviest contour I can from a std 700SA with no barrel block/sleeve. Bedding is a non factor, will be done regardless.

I am looking at the Krieger #17 HV weighing it at 7lbs finished at 28' or the Kieger #14 Hvy Palma weighing in at 6.5lbs finished at 30'..

Simpley, how long and fat can I go without sleeving the action..

28'-30' @ 1.250 shouldn't be a problem, especially with a good aftermarket recoil lug......

I agree with Preacher.

When you bed it, you may want to extend the bedding a few inches in front of the recoil lug for some added support.
