Rem 700 Trigger Question

Ok so after looking it over Riflebasix is 50 miles from me and I had good luck with a SAV2 Savage trigger from them so I went with their varmint 4 oz and up unit that did have safety and bolt release
Trigger showed up in 48 hours--was simple to install--at first I ignored their request to 'clean up" the 1/8th in pin bores as the pins seemed to slide ok but it needed that extra tiny bit of "float" to install easy
The trigger is right around 5 oz out of the box--had a Tiny bit of creep that adjusted out with 1/4 turn and bolt release is very smooth etc
Have not had it to the range but dry fired some from a bench this morning--It seems like it will be the ticket. I am Sure that some of the others would be great as well and I APPRECIATE everyones input for sure.

I have four Cooper varmint rifles, all with the Jard trigger (single stage), all set up at 10 ozs. Wouldn't change a thing.

Do you have any idea if there is a lower weight that the Cooper triggers are considered to be able to be adjusted to? One of my Coopers has a really light trigger, probably not as light as yours, but I think close, and not near 1.5 lbs. either. I have not been able to find that it is mechanically unsafe, either. I bought it used. I have not had it out in a while. I am pretty darn certain that it is the factory trigger, but I will have to look at it soon. I wish Cooper was still in business.

Danny, Jard triggers can be adjusted by a simple spring change. The only 'adjustment' is a different rate of spring. Contact Jard and specify the pull weight wanted, they'll supply the correct spring. Their CS is excellent, and should be able to get you sorted out quickly.

As for Cooper still being in business.....you're not alone in that regard!

The original Cooper triggers could only be adjusted down to what you've got now, not much lighter in terms of safety. This is the reason many went to aftermarket triggers in their Cooper rifles. My specific Cooper's are what I use for "BR varmint shooting", always off the bench with a rest, so the 10oz Jard works perfectly with no safety issues for my application.

Those are a heavy stiff spring in those later Coopers, or at least mine was in a model 54.

Make sure all the internal parts have been polished to a mirror-like finish on the B&A. I went through a lot aggravation with mine. Good luck

Just curious, was this on the bench rest trigger or a regular 700 type?
