Rem 700 SA or LA?

Help solve my dilemma with the proper action for my project. I would like to build a custom coyote \ varmint rifle off the Remington 700 left hand action in 6mm,244 Remington) Ackley Improved “repeater”. I have spent several hours reading though so many threads looking for the answer, some use short - others long. I’ve contacted two different gunsmiths one tells me the short action would be fine while another suggested long since I want a repeater. This will be designed for bullets no heavier than 90-grain wt – cartridge OAL at 2.825” max. I already load for the 257 AI & 7x57 AI on the Encore frame; I use the 7x57 brass for each so the 6mm fits having the base components. I’ve looked for a used 700 LH and they seem to be few and far between. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

At 2.825" COL it would just barely fit into a standard Rem. SA magazine box,mine is about 2.83"). You will have absolutely no room to "chase the lands".

Since it's a "custom" gun, why not spend a little more for a LH Stiller Predator. These are cut to accept the Wyatt "extended" magazine box, which will give you a little more length.,Anybody know how much?) Higher quality action, longer mag box, no need to search. Sounds like just the ticket...

With that bullet and OAL you would be fine with a Short action especialy if you had a Wyatt's box added to allow for extended seating as the throat wears away.
Are you planning to have this action blueprinted? if so your cost won't be to far at all from the cost of a Stiller action and the resale value will be way better if you ever have to get rid of it.
