Rem 700 question??

Would a 1.450 diameter barrel fit on a 700 action? Or would a guy need some kind of custom action?

I THINK A 700 ACTION IS 1.250

It would in theory work but it would look odd due to the fact the barrel is larger in diameter than the reciever.

A Remington action is just under 1.360 so a 1.350 barrel will look good on it. My 7mm/300 Wby has a Hart 1.350 barrel on it and you will need to watch your scope ring height.

These are my 2 Heavy varmint rifles I built back when I lived in Ohio for long range groundhog hunting.
The Blued barrel one is 25-06 with 1.250 Dia. barrel and
The Stainless barreled one is 7mm/300 Wby with a 1.350 Dia Hart barrel built just like Mary Louise Devito's rifle that set a 1000yrd benchrest record of around 7 inches back in 1970.

The 1.450 Dia barrels were designed for the 408 CT line of cartridges.

OP, i think the bbl would work also with an Eliseo stock too.

Inside every 1.5” blank is a 1.35 blank.

I have a Winchester 70 with a barrel that is the same diameter as the receiver. We ordered 1.5” steel for the blank. The receiver was faced to remove the radius, the barrel turned and polished to match diameters and make it nearly look like one piece. The barrel is a medium sporter; the weight difference over a 1.25 shank is only a couple ounces, just the couple inches at the breach are larger.
It was done purely for looks. I think the step down to the barrel is unsightly. I do not have a pic at this time.

I work for Dave Van Horn, we make our own barrel blanks, it gives me a lot of opportunity to make exactly what I want. The above rifle also has a 16” LOP.

I am the ape. For shooting standing off sticks I like a long stock, it is not real good off the bench but that is not where I shoot it.
I took a standard length stock and added spacers and shot it until it worked best for me. The cheek piece location was moved back to match where my face is. Most people are afraid to cut or lengthen a rifle stock to fit. It is done a lot more with shotguns.

If you're question is in regards to a barrel for sale that is 1.450, you could still buy it and have it turned down by a gunsmith to fit the 700 action. My smith turns my barrels to any contour I want for $40.

If I'm off about your question, then just nevermind me
