rem 700 police vs savage 12fv?

I may have a chance to trade for a Rem 700 Police in .308. I'm also looking at a new Savage 12fv in .308. Any opinions?

I have both and they are both very good shooting guns. The 700 PSS has averaged .5 MOA and the Savage has averaged .6 MOA. ,These averages are with reloaded ammo of 40.5 gr. to 42 gr. of H4895, Sierra 168 gr. MatchKing bullets, Federal Match primers, and Federal GMM cases. Seating depth was to the maximum that the magazine will allow.)

Up/down side of the Remington is the stock some hate it some love it. The palm swell area seems to be too large for most people.

The downside of the Savage is the stock also, but for different reasons. The stock is VERY flexible and most exchange it for a more rigid stock. Personally, I ahve kept mine in the factory stock and it works for me.

Get the Savage in the McMillan A-3 stock and never look back.

RHINOUT!

Also consider re-sale,for future planning of course).

Both are GREAT guns, no doubt!

Savage w/ McMillan is a great deal!

Check the August 2006 Gun Tests Magazine. There is a good article comparing the 700LTR to the Savage 10FP and what ammo shot best.

Thanks for the help. It looks like I should go with the rifle that feels best to me, load good ammo and see what happens.
