Rem 700 bolt operation

I have several Rem 700 rifles all barreled and actions trued but one I just put together the bolt is not as slick as all my other ones! I have applied some moly grease and that helps a little but nothing like the rest of them! It is a blued SPS action and like I said I have several to compare to including a couple that are Melonited that are slick as glass. but this one is just not as slick as I think it should be in comparison to all my others. I was wondering if a little fine lapping compound on the rails might help? Not on the lug surfaces that come in contact with the lug recesses but the rails that the bolt runs on? Or do some need some use to get there? I'm not really looking for the super smooth feel of a mauser. Thank You, Ron

Brownells has a bolt raceway polishing tool specifically to do just what you want. Uses sand paper of choice and oil or lapping compound. Very simple, you could make a wooden one easily.

Those new sps actions will never be as slick as a bdl action you may be used to. Just be careful polishing the pits off of it. Use ballistol on the bolt body til it slicks up after a thousand rounds or so

Could always sit in front of the idiot box with your unloaded rifle & cycle the action a couple hundred times a night? That'll get 'er broke in...
