Rem 700 BDL to DBM Pillar Adjustment

Does anyone have any suggestions on the preferred method to remove pillars to be redone with different lengths or just take the existing ones down to allow DBM bottom metal? I do not have any machinery outside of a cheapo drill press and a dremel.

I'm converting by BDL rifle stock to accept a Seekins DBM bottom metal. The stock (GRS Hunter) had already been pillar bedded by me. I'm all the way down to the pillars at the bottom metal inletting and still have maybe another 1/4" to remove from the bottom of the stock and pillars to ensure reliable feeding from the magazines.

The reason for the change is to facilitate its use in NRA Highpower matches as well as Precision Rifle competition.

I was thinking about using the dremel and an endmill attachment to remove some of the pillars and deepen the inletting for the bottom metal. If it doesn't go well, my alternative plan would be to align the stock under the drill press and very very slowly drill out the existing pillars slightly larger than they are now, and redo them.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Either of your methods will be fine. If it was me with the tools you have listed id start drilling the pillars one bit at a time til theyre gone, get the stock whiddled out to where it needs to be then make new pillars
