Rem 700 action

I purchased a blue printed action for just under $600 delivered. Ordered it on 12/1 and picked it up at the FFL on 1/20. I didn't know they have quality control issues.View attachment 1735941

If you have a gunsmith that you use, take it to him and let him decide if there are any issues with it. Quality control is only a thing if the action was effected by it.

Had an acquaintance buy a 40X action last summer from PTG. Only after threading up a barrel was it discovered it had a PPC bolt face instead of .308 bf. He sent bolt back for replacement (July) and still no replacement bolt in spite of several promises. In the meantime, they have been continuously advertising and selling bolts. I have bought a few things from them without too much delay, guess I've been lucky.

I just purchased a 700 replacement complete SA bolt from them two weeks ago and it came last week. $125 Only issue was the extractor was damaged and would not pull a case or the go gauge. I happen to have a spare. Installed it and so far so good. I didn't even try to get them to replace it.

Not wanting, not selling. I know they’re usually slow as hell to deliver, but I see PTG has new complete 700 bolt and receiver advertised at $399 in any configuration you want. Maybe I’m missing something, but I’m seeing the used ones trading higher on this site!

PTG has been iffy from what I have read. Consult your local AI to aggregate some links.

I personally wouldn't run one in a gun I consider a serious gun.

I'd rather run a 20 year old Savage action than a new PTG.

First, I haven’t use PTG in years. Dave Kiff was the owner and has A Ton of knowledge.
If he’s still involved there is no problem with product.
