REM 700 action torque sequence

What is the correct(?) sequence for tightening down the action bedding screws on a REM 700 with aluminum bedding?

What answer do you need? A rifle properly bedded needs the screws to keep the action from falling out. So therefore torque sequence or value doesnt even matter.

I'm with dusty. I've never understood the hole witch one first and what to Torque them two on a bedded rifle.

Agree with both , but just because it's aluminum bed don't be fooled that it doesn't need to be skim coated and bedded . If a factory that made the action can't bed it properly, what makes you think another manufacturer can ? It'll just take a skim but you'll see the difference. If you want to check before bedding use modeling clay or silly putty . Silly putty is easier to remove.

Gary I've really never seen one of the aluminum bedding block stock be that close to consider it a bedded rifle myself. Seems most need some material removed to get the barrel centered up any way. Then as you say a good skim

You would not believe how many guys from the range , think that it's aluminum bedded ,that's all I need . meanwhile they continue to complain that " it must be the load "

you don't have to tell me. I just smile and say nice when they let me know of there factory bedded rifle

Well, a friend was insisting that the front screw needed to be tightened first. I insisted that since it was skim bedded I only needed to alternate front/rear as evenly as possible until it was as tight as I wanted. So, do I win??

Sorry Dusty...In discussing this further and since he already had a 12 pack in the fridge we decided to open up a couple to taste for quality!! Well, you can guess what happened. LOL.
