Rem 700 7 mag action

Would a 700 7 rem mag action be a good donor for a budget 7 saum or wsm hunting rifle build? Thinking along the lines of using the factory bdl btm metal with a altered mag box and a s/a follower. Also considering the Remage option.

Feed rails in the action are different from a long magnum to short magnum. Probably wont feed

When I posted I more or less thought someone would say the ultra mag action was the one to use. Thinking I heard that somewhere? As it turned out, I ended up passing on the 7mag tonight anyway. The owner had it misrepresented. He literally tried to sell me a different rifle than the one that was pictured in his ad!

The feed rails can be opened up on a standard magnum rem 700 to work with an ultra mag or nosler case pretty easy. I did a 6.5saum on a LA 7mag action and it fed fine as long as you open up the feed rails correctly

Also to add you have to use an ultra mag box to get the case under the fed rail far enough
