Rem 700 .243 Pet Loads

I have a newer model Rem 700 in .243 I plan to shoot at PD's in May-- Looking for a 70-85 gr pet load for a factory barrel

Plan to use Varget and H4895---Remington Bulk brass and WLP primers

Looking to shorten the learning curve on this rifle--

I use the Hornady 87 gr Vmax , Win Brass, and right around 38 gr's of Varget in a factory Rem 700 243. Of course work up to the load, but as you know, the throat on a Rem is long. These bullets jump very well and once you find the accuracy node for your rifle, adjust the seating depth til you find the sweet spot and they will hammer. Good Luck!

I've had several 243's, and they all have shot exceptionally well with 414/760.

Even better for larger quantities for PD's, as it meters so well.

85 grain Sierra HPBT and between 36.5 and 37 gr of IMR 4064. This load has shot .5 at 100 with several factory rifles for me.
It is also the accuracy load in the Sierra 4th edition manual.

If Varget or H4895 don't work for you, try IMR 4350, especially with the 85 grain bullets.

My Remington 700 shoots the 85 Sierra BTHP with 40.0 grains of IMR 4350, under 1/2 moa.

If you have trouble getting good groups, free float the barrel. I have several Remington 700's and all of them shot much better after I free floated the barrel.
