Rem 7.5 or CCI 450?

Is there a preference on either in a 6 GT? Will be used as a LR steel banger, and coyote rifle in the winters. It gets down to single digits/teens fairly often. Will be using N540 or H4350, 70g Varmageddons and 109 ELDMs. I have both primers on hand, but I have a lot more 7.5s which also feed the 223.

I have always used the 7 1/2. I built a 6x45 few years back and loaded up the 450 in it to use them up. Had a large amount of failed ignition with them. I narrowed it down to issue fire forming the brass with them. If i created a false shoulder with the converted brass no issues and no issues from that point on with the now formed brass. But if i used the Remington primers to fire form never had a misfire.

I use both and in my experience either will make accurate ammunition. I prefer the 450's because I like shiny primers. You may or may not have to adjust the charge for similar accuracy between them.

I remember reading German Salazar's blog some years back where he did a very good test as I could imagine (well, I would not have imagined it, but still) and he rated the 7 1/2's as little flame throwers I seem to remember. I have never had a 7 1/2 not go bang.

I'd try both. My testing has been very limited. I only use one bullet (Sierra 65 grain GK SP) and one powder (H4895) in ARs. Accuracy was slightly better with the CCI- 450. However, I keep my loads under max and have used these primers interchangeably.

450s are easier to seat in tight pockets. With 7-1/2s I use some dry neck lube to ease the seating. Consistent seating of primers makes a difference in SDs. I prefer 450s but find no difference in shooting.

CCI 450’s for all my sm rifle cases… Just seems consistent.
I did have the same issue as JB10 with using them while fire forming some 6BR to 6BRA and swapped them out for regular CCI sm rifle primers and no further problems.
Just needed to have put a false shoulder on the case first and I think it would have been a “non issue”.
The 450’s have a tough cup but that makes them reliable for stiff loads.
The 400’s seemed to be just a touch softer and with only a “jam” I was able to get the cases fire formed and from then on used the 450’s without any further problems.

Been using the Rem's for over six years now , and it is my "GO TO" , for F-TR Competition . Haven't seen any change in them since the Sale , and they are just as consistent as they always have been . Good S/D's run around 6 - 6.4 , for whatever that's worth .

I prefer 7-1/2, however my most recent lot change, primers are now about .005-.007" taller and required more squish. I will adjust my pocket uniformer to compensate, but velocity change between my old lot and new was about 8-10 fps on average. SD/ES stayed the same if not a tiny bit better. Right around high 3s to low 5s.

I’ve always liked Remington primers, but I wonder as much as the company has changed if they have kept their consistency like CCI has.
I bought a brick of 9 1/2's in March of last year for the first time and no matter what load I used (different bullets, different powders, different combination) the velocity numbers were horrible! Other's have stated that they 9 1/2's work just fine. But this brick I have (SD's in the mid to high teens) . . . for get it !

Soon after I got those, I also tried a sleeve of 7 1/2's and they performed outstandingly. I started with just a sleeve of them to test as I didn't want to jump into a whole brick of bad primers again. But since that sleeve did so well, I did get a brick of them and so far the primers in that brick are also performing really well (like giving me SD's in the 4-5's).
