I've shot a 541-S for years now and never had a problem with the feeding or the mags. Could it be that you've just got a bad one? They're readily available anywhere you find Remington products and might be worth a try. Not aware of anyone doing an aftermarket mag for the 541 series, but I haven't invested much time in looking.
Thanks Kevin, I have 3 mags including 2 new Remington mags that I bought recently. Of the 3, only 1 works reasonably well but not 100%. The 2 new mags are totally unreliable and rounds will pop straight up in the feed lips. If I can't find anything else I will try some more factory mags and hopefully they will work.
I'm not sure I'd say unreliable but certainly most of us have feed problems. With mine, the 5 shot mag usually feeds best, but the first of 10 often flips up with the 10 shot mag
While a lot of 541 shooters would buy "different" mags, I've never heard of anyone actually producing any.
I saw a 5 shot mag at a show last weekend for $17.50. Almost bought it but I didn't really want to pay that much. I dropped one of mine and it scattered pieces all over. I found all but the spring, and cut down an old pistol spring, glued it back together but I can only get 2 or 3 rounds in it now--so I use it for slow fire.
