Rem 40-X Rimfire stock ?

I bought a 40-X Rimfire from the CMP a few years back. Heavy barreled rifle with walnut stock. I am toying with the idea of dropping it in a SA McMillan stock as a rimfire clone to a LR hunting rig. Not near the gun room, but have the opportunity to nab a nice stock. Is the action screw hole spacing the same?

As a short action 700 yes , bur if yours is a 40x ,with a straight bolt , it would require some work in the bolt recess and the safety is inlet diff.

If you have the heavy bbl, you also probably have the 700 bolt handle. It should drop right in.

40x rimfire HB also had the straight bolt handle . But CMP used what ever they had , unless of course your bolt matches your receiver . A picture will solve all questions . 40xb rimfires were made on 700 style actions , 40x rf were made on 720 -721 style receivers . Then you get into 40xbr which were cf on a BR style stock , not stamped 40 x on the side but acid etched .
