Reloder 16 for 300 wsm?

Anyone using Reloder16 for 300wsm and 180gr Elite Hunters?

I'm putting together a 26" Carbonsix barrel build and just getting ideas.
Thanks.

I see no reason that that would not deliver very good results I understand that it is somewhat slower than H-4350 Alliant shows 62.2 grains R-16 with 180-grain bullets.at around 2900 fps.

I think with those mid-weight bullets, RL16 would work just fine. I've read enough on here to know that H4350 works exceptionally well with 200-215gr bullets.

I am using RL-16 with the 210 VLDs in a bench gun. I am sure you will find a good node with the 180s, keep us posted.

Will do.
They said 6 to 8 weeks for the barrel but all other build components are here.
It is a Carbon fiber wrapped barrel for a hunting rifle, maybe 8 to 9lb scoped. Not expecting .2s but I've seen good reviews and experiences from Corbonsix.

My 300 WSM shoots 180 Scirocco II seated 0.060” jump, 62.5 gr RL16 lit by WLRM, 19 yr old 24” barrel M70 Featherweight fps = 2917. Groups 0.4 moa at 100. Still in load development to see if I can push it any faster without losing accuracy. Then will see how it holds up out to 400 yards.

For RL16, you can use the same exact load data as H4350. They are basically an identical burn rate that develop max pressures around the same point. Start with charges of RL16 at low end to mid level of H4350 data and work up.

Difference is RL16 is a lighter powder that gives better case fill and it will yield about 20-30 fps more speed than identical charge weights of H4350. Great temp stability like H4350 as well.

Anyone shooting 200+ grain bullets? My new tube I have coming is a 10 twist and I was going to try the 204 VT and the 215 Bergers. I am an H4350 junky and have lots of it, but would like to try RL16/17/23 if it is worth it.

RL23 works great with the heavier bullets in the 300 WSM, myself and a couple other guys at our 1K club use it with the 215 and 220 Berger's with good results.
What kind of muzzle velocity and group moa are you getting out of 24” barrel? I have some RL23 I bought to test with 180’s but may want to go heavier.

My barrel is 30" as is most of the 1K BR shooters.
I'm getting 2886 fps with the 215 Bergers, when the wind cooperates and I do my part .5 moa 5 shots groups and some times better are the norm.

My velocity with RL23 has dropped off strangely after initially showing excellent promise running at 2880fps out of a 31 barrel, the same powder charge (64.5gr) has dropped to 2840fps and the ES/SD has opened up - this is with about 180 rounds down the barrel, so rather than speed up it seems to have slowed down. So back to the drawing board with a powder charge test next week.

What is your round count on this barrel? Sometimes when the lands and throat diameter erode the velocity drops.

You really need 210’s or 215’s or heavier for RL23. Here is my hunting 26” 300 wsm. It’s going 2875 FPS with 210 vld hunting
