Relocating to Albuquerque

Del Norte is NW edge at Rio Rancho. There’s a club on south end of city also. Then Capitan is a couple hours southeast. The big SASS range is just east of the city.

Whittington is a good ways from ABQ, but it is arguably the finest shooting facility in the counry with ranges that cover virtually all the shooting disciplines. Great place to spend a few days.

I have been doing more bench shooting, also like ringing steel with AR’s, shooting pistol and some sporting clays. The Del Norte club looks great but it’s an hour or more away, hoping to find something closer.

How do you figure that Del Norte is an hour away? It’s right at northwest Albuquerque.

Zia rifle and pistol club, I have shot there a couple of times when visiting. It is a nice club but it has a membership waiting list.

My take on ABQ is that anywhere I have gone is an hour away due to the traffic and congestion, especially going to the NW in the afternoon when everyone is trying to get to Rio Rancho.

When I lived in Albq. I would shoot at the city range West of the city. They are strict but you can shoot 100-200 and a gong at 500+-. I was looking at joining the Del Norte Club and then we had to move. At the time Del Norte had targets out to 1000 yds. I guess they, at the time, were having shoots and cookouts for the members quite regularly. Also, if I remember correctly you had to qualify at 500 yards(?) before you were allowed to shoot at 1000.
