Reloading process

I'm new to the site but not new to shooting. I gave been shooting f-class for 2 years now and I'm looking to get a little more accuracy out if my reloading. I just purchased a k&m neck turner and flash hole uniformer. I was just wondering if I resize, and trim before turning? And can I load after turning or do I need to resize the case. Also at what point in the process should I anneal the cases? Before or after turning and sizing?

Thanks

Welcome to the site.

You need trim before so they are all the same length...then you expand, then turn and finally resize and shoot. Only advice I can think of is go slow with turning so the tool doesn't get to hot.

Good luck!

If you haven't done so already, read the attached article.

Lots of great info there and other technical articles on the home page that will surely answer most questions.

Good Shooting.

I've always re-sized, trimmed and then neck turned. I'm not turning much off the neck but it works fairly well.

Resize, Trim and then Turn.

Trim before turning so that when you set up your turner you are turning into the neck/shoulder junction the same distance on all cases.

1/32" to 1/16" into the junction is sufficient. :)

I don't know how y'all are resizing and getting them on the neck turning pilot...unless you are using the expander in your die? No way I could get my brass on my turner without expanding so no reason for me to size if I'm going to need to expand.

If you have to expand to get the case neck on the turner's pilot use the expander made by the same company that produced your turner [they're designed to work together], not the one in the die. :)

This is very important. I use a Gracey Neck Shaver so I didn't have the simplicity of buying a complimentary expander mandrel, I had grind/polish my Lyman mandrel to the right dimension.

The concentricity of the neck is so critical that I resize again after turning the necks, then I prime and load.
