Reloading Misstep

Here's my Story. I had shot a Local Match firing 20 shots in my 6MM BRA. I came home, cleaned up the Necks using AAAA steel wool. I de-primed the cases and brushed out the necks. setting the cases aside to work on later. Well today I decided to get back to work on them. Here's my mis-step. I was thinking the cases were ready for loading. I Primed them, charges them and then went to seat bullets........Yep, no resistance seating a bullet and I said OH Crap!

So,1 at a time I dumped the powder into a small container, de-primed the cases, lubed and sized them verifying .002 bump. cleaned off the sizing wax and reprimed using the primer that I had removed. I reweighted the powder charge that I had put into the small container verifying no loss of powder and charged the case and then seated the bullet. Yep, it took me about an hour to go thru the 20 loads. It's going to be a week or so before I can get out and shoot some of them. It will be interesting to see if the reuse of the Primer causes any trouble issues. I have read on a primer reuse thread (on this site) that I had searched that the reuse of primers didn't cause them any issues.

I'm going to have to leave better notes on my Brass Prep to insure no more mis steps.

You're not alone. That happened to me years ago, so now it's charge and seat.

Since your cases have already been perfectly sized for the chamber they will be fired in, you can skip the lubing and order a Lee collet die. Send in a fired case and a couple of bullets you will be using and they will custom fabricate a collet die neck sizer for you. No more lubing. I have a 6BR and have never had a problem with my loads

This is where you need look really hard at your methodology and systems.

Eg. all brass I load is worked from one basin to another while doing brass prep and finally into the loading block primed and NECK DOWN !
Each load is then charged and projectile seated and placed into field cases.

Say what you like but errors with good systems are almost impossible to make.

Post it notes are very common on my shelves. They have become more numberous as I age

Sometimes I forget what I had for breakfast that day!

Here's what I do when I reload a batch of cases in partial steps. I leave the next tool in the tote box containing the partially processed cases which is a reminder that this is the next step.

Or perhaps a better method might be using "post it notes" on the bench as someone suggested. But I use the "tool" method since I have been doing this way ever since I got old which was some time ago. Besides, my handwriting is so bad I probably wouldn't be able to decipher what I wrote. Unfortunately that has happened more time than I can remember with other endeavors.
