Reloading for the 22 Remington Jet die question

This is not an accuracy question because I'm reloading for a S&W M53 revolver but I thought I'd ask here anyway. I have a choice between an RCBS 2 die set and a Lyman 3 die set with an expander mandrel. I think pulling an expander ball through the neck after resizing a case with the severe body taper of the Jet would stretch the brass more than using a mandrel after resizing. I've never loaded for the Jet before and I have both die sets - just don't know which one I should keep. Yes - I may be over thinking this but would like to hear from someone whose loaded for this cartridge if possible.

Thanks,

Robin

I would try with the mandrel first and either back off or put a very thin washer betwix your press and FL sizing die. Don't want to push back the slope/shoulder.
I had read years back that problems can occur with the case backing out of the cylinder and cause the cylinder to bind up, so be careful.
Taurus, I believe, solved this problem with their .22 Hornet but for the life of me I can't remember how.

I would choose the RCBS 2 die set. Over the years, i've found their quality and specifications to be consistent.
Don't worry about the expander, I used it all the time with my 22 Jet Bonanza Benchrest 2 die set with no problems. Also, you can polish the button, plus clean the inside of the necks with a dry nylon bristle bore brush before resizing, which always smooths extraction.
I found the Jet to be an easy cartridge to reload once you get the right components.
That model 53 is in a class by itself in design and workmanship, one of S&W's finest revolvers!
