Hearing powder companies' claims that they are at full capacity and doing everything they can to meet the individual consumer's demand is getting old. For example, Hodgdon has a release to that effect and claims they won't take any measures to increase production capactity because of the concern that the additional plant will be shut down when the current period of peak demand ends. Hodgdon claims it is selling very little to government or commercial buyers as a percentage of their total sales. Maybe they're right, but I'm having a hard time buying that line right now. That's because anyone can do 5 seconds of Google research and easily find that Hodgdon has issued basically the same "max production" excuse press release time and time again over the past 15 years. When in the past 10 years has there been a time that powders like Varget, H4350, H4831 and H4831SC sat on shelves for more than a couple of days (if that)? We'll never get to see the proof in the proverbial pudding, but I'd love to see their actual production numbers on each type of powder Hodgdon (and the other sellers) produced over the past 10-12 years and then see where it's been, and is being, sold over that same time period. The same for the primer companies. I'm assuming that some Wall Street mind would see this and say "get building some more plants now because there is plenty of cash to be made." Isn't 99 percent of marketing trying to find buyers? Isn't the easier part supposed to be to find ways to meet the demand once you have it? I have a business degree - maybe I got the wrong books back when. So, I've lost pretty much all interest in continuing this insane, panicked chase for supplies for what is supposed to be a fun, relaxing hobby, especially when I have a strong feeling that the average Joe and Jane aren't being given all the facts by the sellers. I'm stopping the chase, at least for now. Good luck to you all - may you all find plenty of 8 pounders of your favorite powder and primers galore soon. Maybe I'll see you all out at the range (I'll be the guy with no powder throwing rocks at the targets - lol).

Hodgon cant increase production, they do not manufacture powder.
They simply buy powder from different manufactures and put it in smaller containers
with their name on it.

You can find powder, you just have to work a little harder to get it.

I understand what Hodgdon is - a reseller - except when they don't state that and put this quote in their "Where is the Powder Q & A." on their website:

"WHY CAN’T HODGDON BUILD ANOTHER POWDER PLANT? The “normal” powder demand for the U.S. would not support an additional plant. Hodgdon, like most companies, cannot afford to build a new production facility then have it sit idle until demand spikes."

They don't say, "we don't manufacture." Plus, I just used them as an example of the greater point. I get your comment - work harder to find it....except I'm not going to, at least not for a while. Didn't want to get into a debate - just added my two cents to comments others made with seemingly similar frustrations. Have a nice day.
Forum boss made it pretty clear he would leave this thread alive as long as it stayed on topic and didn't get into discussions exactly like you are the one doing. We all understand the frustrations. Complaining about it on a thread that actually helps you get powder is not the solution.
