You guys think reloadr 33 be ok in the 6.5x284 or is it a waste of time. I know 4831sc and 4350 work well I'm using 4831 as of now, but my local gunshop has some 33 would it be ok to shoot or should I just leave it be?

I also have a carbon problem what is the best way to fix this? I have been seeing sandpaper like marks on my bullets at 1st I thought the chamber was getting ready to fall apart from heat checking. some people say Iosso or something like that, need some help on this issue for sure. any comments welcome

There is a long running post on another forum working with the 6.5 x 55 and AI version. Lately they have been getting good results with Reloader 26.

R33 might be a little slow. I use Magpro with the 140s and R17 with the 130s. These two powders give me top velocity with good accuracy.

If I were shooting a 30" barrel in 1000 BR like I used to do, I might experiment with some other powders and get my velocity from barrel length rather than modern powders.

All this said, R17 is very hard on barrels and my last 6.5-284 barrel only lasted about 600 rounds.

I have a 30in barrel savage f12 but it has some issues, it has to be cleaned every 30 shots, it has a carbon problem, it has me shooting it also, but I do have fun shooting it I enjoy shooting like we all do on here, but sometimes it can be crazy. I do not have a borescope but the other day I had a mag glass lookin at the muzzle and noticed the chatter look of the lands and grooves, that was amazing, then I come on here and got to see some real pics of savage barrels, ruffles have ridges LOL

the gun shoots ok for me not expecting 1s & 2s and under 7in at 1000yds it is helping me get back into shooting, learning the trade
