Reloader 17 as a 223 Palma propellant?

Hi everyone. New to the forum and apologize if this has been talked about already. Just curious if anyone has tried Relaoder 17 to propell Palma weight bullets in the 223, and if so what kind of results they got and how well behaved the load was? All data I can find says it is the wonder powder for this task but I don't have the time to chase dreams so to speak lol.

As they say in Japan, same only different. I use it in my .20-.223AI with the 55 grain bullets. Fantastic accuracy and velocity. I would think you would want to be throated long to maximize case capacity and run a 28-30" to burn efficiently.

Velocity will definitely be there. I chronographed 80's out of my 19.5" 223ai doing well over 2800 fps.

Yes she's a well built rifle for Palma. Currently I'm shooting Lapua 77gr pushed by a charge of Relaoder 15 (mild but very consistent) from 300-600m then switch to the 308 for the longer ranges. My daughter wants to shoot this year so I would like to get the 223 to be a full range gun so either I shoot it and her the 308 or vice versa. I don't think its possible to safely push the heavier projectile that fast with Relaoder 15 to stay supersonic at 1000 yards. So I'm leaning to work with IMR 3031 or Relaoder 17. Kinda shy of 3031 just for metering reasons, but nervous of reports of great speed but at costs of inconsistent spreads any higher than acceptable sd numbers compared to older powders. Just curious if this is true of this powder and if it's worse in small capacity cases.

The 77s are Lapua. Great bullet and extremely forgiving. Current load goes subsonic beyond 600 meters. Looking like I'm going to try all three powders. Okay excuse to shoot more lol

I had a friend that tried once with his 223 launching 69's or 60's. The report sounded different, and we didn't have a chrono set up for speed, but i'm sure it sucked. If you could keep your ammo inside before you shot the match and got to to equal the ambient temp, 68-72 degrees or so, and only pulled it out before you went to shoot the match, would this help with the SD/ES and Velocity change?
