Release agent for JB weld bedding

When using the Redding Imperial Die Wax, do you put on more than one coat and do you buff out?
I've used one very liberal coat and did not buff. When putting it on, I did so under good lighting so I could make sure everything was coated as it should be and there were no lumps of the wad showing on the action.

I've mentioned before in these threads, I use mold release wax designed for being a mold release. I prefer Part-All paste #2. If I use an aerosol spray, I like PolEase 2300.

BTW, both of those make excellent table wax for things like tablesaw, bandsaw, disc grinders, etc. Will help prevent rust and keep it smooth. If applied and buffed properly, does not transfer in any noticeable amount.

Is there a good release agent I can get most anywhere that works with JB Weld
Johnson Paste wax
not made any longer but you can find something similar,
I've found similar products on Amazon for maybe 12 bucks
You can get some Johnsons off Ebay for $100 though if you're itching for it lol.
it is made with carnuba wax so look for that if you're going for a replacement route (cheap and easy)
I've tried many other things you can get local or at the hardware store...........
Silicon spray, shoe polish, grease, silicon grease etc.... and Johnsons worked the best hands down.
Surprising JB can start to stick or work through even wheel bearing or silicon grease
(for a local type of product Carnuba wax works well, a commercial dedicated mold release may be better even, I dunno I havent had to use anything more industrial strength past Johnson Paste wax)

This is why I prefer a spray, mold-release agent. Gets into every nook and cranny, it's impossible to have any voids in coverage. I'll spray inside the receiver as well before packing it with clay. Any epoxy manages to seep in where it's not wanted it comes right off.
While sprays are convenient, when bedding actions I like a paste wax. Reason being, a 700 action with a separate recoil lug, the end of the action may have a small chamfer creating a negative recess where it meets the lug, which the paste wax will fill. This helps in reducing flaking and clean-up of the bedding after. Small amounts of build up are necessary and helpful.

Ram 225 by Lily. This is the release the the RTE shop Quantico ,All Guard in Nashville and AMu used in the 80's and 90's.it comes in Aerosol or by the gallon . The best deal is by the gallon. My first gallon lasted me 30 years.
It isn't really cheap but it is great stuff. If you get a gallon put some in well sealed Mason jar or Real Good chemical resistant spray bottle ( check the rating it will eat the cheap ones) with the jar method mop the clayed action ,mix epoxy, mop again go to work it flashes off way faster tha I am texting. The key is twice.
Wichita Industries is the best source ,must ship to business address no res. delivery

I bedded my first yesterday with Marine Tex. I can only pray the shoe polish lets it come apart.
To say I am nervous is an extreme understatement. It would be nice to have a trigger in the gun. LOL

Beautiful work.

I’ve used just about everything at one time or another. Right down to PAM cooking spray. Recently I’ve been using the Brownell’s aerosol and so far I really like it. Things come apart pretty easily and I don’t miss spots like with pastes, cleanup is a snap with some brake parts cleaner. A little goes a long way.
