Rehabbing Old Bushnell Spotting Scope

I have an old, 40 year, Bushnell spotting scope. It is still very useful, especially with the angled eyepiece. When you remove the eyepiece, you can see a haze on the mirrors inside. Can this be removed by dis assembly yourself? Anyone know who would perform this service? I realize that the newer cheap spotting scopes would have better optics in them and be the better way to go for the same money.

Why not contact Bushnell? Their customer service is surprisingly good.

That would have nice Japanese glass in it. The optics of the newer cheap scopes cant compare to good Japanese glass they used back then. So i agree that you should call Bushnell to see if theyll fix it up for you

It's good advice here to contact Bushnell. If someone tries to "clean" it up for you, they will likely mess up the optics... Fingerprints, dust, etc...

Those are REALLY good scopes. Don't give up on it. A lot of longrange shooters use the older Bushnell Spacemasters for longrange hunting and competition.
Very good glass for the money.

As others have stated the older Bushnells are most likely Japanese glass so quality is very good.
I believe Kowa made some of the Spacemaster series scopes.

By mirror do you mean a prism? You can wipe it off with a good lens wipe. They can be removed too but can be chipped and great care must be taken to realign them. It is not impossible but I would be interested in a repair quote from the earlier referenced optics company.
