Reglue action

So while cleaning up one of my 6 ppc rifles I noticed that the action was loose and gave it a little pull and out it came. So now I need to reglue it back into stock and was wondering if JB weld is the go to for this job and if so is it just the original JB weld I would use? Also when I reglue action is it best to remove barrel from action? Rifle is a sleeved Remington in what I believe is a McMillan stock.I also believe it was bedded with JB weld but unsure of what glue was used. Rifle shot really good last club match I was in and on last card dropped a shot really far that I couldn't figure out what happened now I believe I know. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks Jason

you gotta be sure to prepare each part very well when gluing a round action like that. be sure to gouge the old bedding up real good and then use jb weld original
Ok I'll be sure to do that . should the barrel be removed or just supported at end of stock? Also should I just let gravity hold action in place while it cures or use tubing or electrical tape to hold in place? Never glued action before have only bedded.

always glue an action in with a barrel so you can orient it in the stock correctly then let gravity do its job. look for my post on here about quick bedding tutorial. some of the info in there will apply to your glue in like scuffing the stock and centering the barrel

You want the barrel on the action. I find the 'balance point' of the barrelled action and use an 'o' ring at that point to support it, making sure the 'o' ring is of the right diameter to allow it to settle correctly in place. You can also wrap tape at the balance point. Be careful how you hold the barrelled action in place as the epoxy cures to not induce any stress. Depending on how it's balanced and the epoxy used, it may need a little 'tweak' as the epoxy finds it's level. A good way to do this is with a piece of hard wood across the top of the action or scope bases. A light clamp an then be used as a 'tweaker' if needed. Don't use those squeeze to tighten clamps...they'll loosen up. Get a nice 6" 'c' clamp. I'd suggest doing a few dry runs to get the feel of it before the epoxy goes on.

Get real aggressive when you rough up the epoxy remaining in the stock. Clean, clean, clean everything. Then clean it again. Acetone works well.

Lots of people use JB Original formula for glue ins, though it's not my preference. The glue ins with problems that I've fixed have all been JB'd originally.

Good shootin'.

Thanks for the great tips from you and Dusty. What glue do you recommend?

Not an attempt to hijack but what do you prefer other than JB weld?

Owens85: I should add that with your setup (floating behind the rear of the sleeve), that's another area to add support for the barrelled action as the epoxy cures. -Al

Ur issue of the glue coming loose is exactly why I always use the actions screws n pillars. At what point was the glue starting to come loose? You don’t know. Which flyer was caused by the loose glue? I prefer to torque those screws and know the action n stock are mated properly.
