Refinishing / bedding

Hello all,

I have a Savage 12BVSS that has been trued and devcon bedded. I'd like to bead blast and k-cote the gun, <.001 thick ). If this is done, would the blasting texture effect my bedding? Or would I have to re-bed the action?

It's a known fact that bead/sandblasting when held against metal in one spot long enough WILL introduce stresses in the metal therefore producing a slight bend. The thinner the metal, the worse the condition. If the metal is thick enough and the blasting is done evenly, there should be no problem.
About the bedding. I would spot it and make sure that the stock doesn't bind. Some beddings have more glass content then others and can be a nightmare to clean out as they are extremely tough on tools. Think it over carefully before starting as in some cases it better to leave well enough alone
Many of the old leaf springs when they have lost their dimension can be sand blasted on one side thus bending it back into position. A real cheap fix but it works

If you change any dimensions that will differ from the original you should redo whatever it's setting on.
I would skim bed the action again after the work is finished to be positive everything is perfect..
Keep the barrel totally free floated.....

The barrel is free floated, It has aluminum pillars and devcon in the tang/lug areas. This rifle has been a <.5" @ 100yard gun. But I remembered what happened when a couple of drops of solvent got in the lug area... : ) Hence I've been skeptical of proceeding. I may leave this one as is....
