Refinishing a stock

I have a beautiful old Fajen stock on my 223 that I got and finished about 30 years ago. I have kept it pretty nice but it does have a few small dings. I finished it by hand rubbing many coats of linseed oil only. Can I sand those spots down and put some more linseed oil back on them or will it look different? What should I do? How can I raise the deeper pits?

try a clean wet rag and your wife's steam iron. put the rag over the dent, put the steam iron on the rag, go slowly until the dent raises.
