Reese on the Range

After some tinkering around in my garage, I realized that I could have quite a collection of videos if I recorded myself fixing all the things I break. :D

That lead me to start recording some of my reloading and shooting. I figured I'd make a thread where I can share what I'm learning, trying, doing, building, etc. and be able to keep it all in one place without a new forum thread every time.

What I would like for these to do over time is to help improve shooting sports. Some of it is sharing information to help others learn, and some of it is me trying to learn new things (which may also help others learn).

Here's my latest video.

I've been building an induction annealer out of my old computer tower.

I'm pretty happy with how it's coming together so far. I ran into an issue with the water reservoir I made though, so I'll have to come up with a different solution for that.

This is my progress so far. Once I figure out the water reservoir, I'll wrap this up and test it out!

Caught your video... Not to be critical, but you may a have a few hiccups in your build. Your 24 volt power supply may be too low a voltage for the annealing PCB and the coil diameter may be too small. Check out the link..

Thanks! Not critical at all.

That's actually some pieces I went back and forth on. I initially stumbled on the idea on a build on sniper's hide, and a few of them were talking about that thread here.

The EE that put together the info that I worked from was working with an even lower total power 24v supply on the same coil dimensions (number of turns, diameter, etc). I reasoned that I may be able to get the same results.

My impression is that with a smaller coil diameter, you don't need as high of power input for comparable results. I may be totally off and was leaning on what they did instead of researching the math myself, so my setup my backfire come test time! Hope not, but we'll see.

Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. Your videos are not instructional. There is no explanation of what you are doing or what parts you are using. All those super fast jerky movements, do nothing to impart information to the shooting community.

Makes me wonder if you are using this site to draw viewers to your YouTube page, where you can increase viewers and reap additional revenue. that's not what this site is about.

Are you an actual metallurgist?

Ha, yeah because YouTube pays so well and my 8 subscribers just send me tons of cash.

Those two videos of me building the annealing machine weren't meant to be instructional as they are. Two part videos aren't that great for instruction anyways.

Like I said in the first post, I'm sharing what I'm trying, building, etc as well as some things that are more of the "how to". If I wanted to draw attention from all over the site, then I'd pepper my videos wherever I could. But I'm not, and in fact intentionally created a thread to keep it to one thread.

I can make an attempt at combining those into a "how to" listing more specific parts, steps, etc. Is that something you'd like to see?

I needed to adjust my trigger on my Remington 700. As usual, I messed it up and it turned into a bigger ordeal.

So I made a video of me swapping triggers and dialing it in. Maybe it will help someone else from having the same issues I had.
