From time to time a thread will come up with new comments. But I will see "zombie thread", "thread is X number of years old" or "back from the dead". To me I see an individual using the search function. Some one who has an inquiry and has found a source and questions or adds to a discussion. Personally I think it is a good thing and not one to be ridiculed because of thread age. I'm here to learn.

Except that the forum has a policy about reviving zombie threads. It’s a general policy but the idea is to reeeally think twice before resurrecting an ancient thread.

Many great posts in the archives. If I see one that is relevant and interesting I see no problem bringing it back to life. Some of the very best are from members that have passed on.

I think a lot of them come from the "Similar threads" at the end of every thread.

I've wandered into them before and revived one or two without thinking.

If we're not supposed to revive them, maybe threads older than X years should be auto-locked so new comments aren't allowed?

I think one should be able to comment on them if for no other reason than to see if things have changed or evolved since then.

My personal policy is that if it doesn’t interest me, I simply don’t read it. I find it much more effective than complaining what other folks decide to post.

The search function is limited to those with both work ethic and a brain.
