Reduced loads for Garand using RL 7

Good Day,
Lee 2nd Edition lists 41.4 grains of RL 7 (minimum), pushing a 100 grain jacketed pill at 2843 fps, and
47 grains at 3180 fps. No pressures are listed.
My question is how much can I reduce the minimum charge to produce a load that won’t destroy my op rod?
I know a 100 grain bullet seems extreme, however, I have a ton on RL-7 that I want to use.

GRT simulates that at about 41K psi (.30-06 max pressure 58.7K psi), and 3150fps. Pretty mild.

That said, that's just an estimation. Use at your own risk. I don't load for -06.

If it will cycle, RL7 would be fine for a Garand. Lighter bullets and faster powders actually generate LOWER port pressures, which is easier on operating systems.

If it doesn't cycle, it is too fast burning, then move back to something slower. FYI I have never had a cycling issues with lighter bullets and RL7 in other semi autos.

Way too fast for a Garand. I suggest you get some H335 instead that works like a charm in reduced loads with cheap 147-150 grain FMJ bullets
