Reduced 300 WSM Loads

Recently acquired a beautiful Winchester 70, CRF stainless, early model in like new condition. At the risk of sounding like a sissy shoulder, am looking for loads that are a little shoulder friendly. I no longer have magnums in my cabinet, but would like to make this one work without at lot of the fuss. I've owned and shot my share of the dragon's, but now do better without them. I bought it mostly of because of its vintage , not because of the caliber, but I don't want to leave it in the cabinet because I'm afraid of it. I'm open to suggestions. Maybe 150-130 TTSX, fast? Thanks in advance.

Back in 2015 WBOGGS WROTE ::: "I have also gotten excellent accuracy with H4895 and 125Nosler BTs. These reduced loads also work magic in a 30-06 and 300WM. The WM will do close to 1/2" at 100 yds." Me "using that 4895 & 65% loading" I have tamed a few beasts.. mike in ct

I like the sound of that, and was also considering a Barnes 130 TTSX, and varget, or H380. Also, wouldn't have problem with a decent 150TTSX, loaded just above 30.06 levels, or in between that, and loaded factory in that weight.
I have heard guys using 125-130 weights for coyote, and I know a 130 TTSX will perform, driven at about 32-33 hundred will be whitetail lightening. This rifle is is a Jewell, a d I want to get some use of it, but I just need to manage the recoil a bit. Shot some factory 165 Hornady Interlocks yesterday, and it is stout. Not ridiculous, but stout from a bench.

You could always call a gunsmith and have a muzzle brake put on.
Thanks but no thanks. I did consider that, but want to keep this rifle original. Gonna change recoil pad, which is hard as a brick, load mid range 150TTSX or similar.
Found out today, Federal makes a 130TTSX loaded to 3500, in the Premium line. May try thst road, but think I can manage with 150 class bullets, loaded midrange. Thanks for the feedback!
Happy New Year!

Unless your gunnign for moose, there is nothing the 150 ttsx will do better then the 130 gr rather the opposite, pushing the 130 fast gives excellent performance out to a decent range, is fairly low on recoil too.
A good decelerator or similar might help a lot.

150 gr bullet with 40 gr H-4895 will spit it out around 2,200 fps and will kick less than a 243win.

You can start at 36 and work up all the way to 55 gr H-4895 and see where you can find the best accuracy.

I ran across a listing thst Federal makes a factory load, 130TTSX, @ 3500 fps. Reviews included excellent accuracy, laser like trajectory, and DRT,performance. That has my attention, might load some myself. Also, I think that I can develop a 150TTSX that will work, just above 30.06 level. Also, will look into limbsaver fitted pad. This one has no give at all. I still do alot of shooting, I'm past the age of shooting the big guns, but want to utilize the rifle, without too much recoil. I CAN shoot them, just prefer not to at this point in my life.

I have a 300winmag load with 130 TTSX at 3,550 fps from 24" bbl. Sight in 2" high at 200 then point and shoot out to 300 like a laser. I have better deer rifles but this combination is excellent at point blank as much as at 300. If I knew for sure all my shots would be beyond 200 yards, I would not choose a monolithic bullet.

For hunting deer, definitely go with the 130 ttsx and not the 150 gr.

The correct Shape & fit of your stock is very important to comfort & success. A nice recoil pad really helps.. Mike in ct
I didnt realize how hard the factory pad is. It's rubber, but absolutely has no give , whatsoever! Looked on line earlier, and found a limbsaver, thst I believe is a prefit. There's always the decelerator.
The Limbsaver is a air cell, looks interesting. THANKS!

After I ran across that listing, or factory loads, I read some of the reviews, and they all mimicked what you just said. Didn't even know anyone loaded it in magnums. I have shot monolithic bullets now for about twelve years, in magnums, non magnums, and muzzleloader too. Have never had a failure, insane accuracy, and never tracked, or lost an animal. Federal knows something thst I've known for years, and that's that they like to be driven hard, spelled fast, also, in that load, for instance, it mimics a 150 grain bullet, in size, but is fast due to weight. I'm either going to try a box, or load some myself, as I have some on hand.
Happy New Year to All!
