Redding T7... Likes and Dislikes

Looking at getting a Redding T7 as an extra Press. I have a few Wildcat Cartridges and Im thinking it would be of great help for me instead of spinning in a die then spinning it back out all day long.
If you have one can you ell what you like about it and anything youdont like. Does it index from station to station well. Is there alot of defletion? ect ect.

I LOVE mine, which replaced my tried and true 70's cast iron RCBS Jr. There is NOTHIN like setting up the dies, and popping back and forth between stations. I have NO problems with deflection, no issues with the press whatsoever. The ram feels like it has a hydraulic dampener it is so well machined.

I love mine for case sizing next to an Instant Indicator. Just go back and forth to make sure you have enough shoulder bump. Great for gas guns, to make sure nothing is too long. Or bullet seating with same. Just go back and forth between dies, indexes perfectly. I like to use a COMP seat die next to the indicator. Seat long, pop over to the Indicator, check length, then do quick math, go back to the seat die, dial in the amount needed to seat to exact length, and viola'. This process makes up for difference in bullets.

I think you will love the press.

Thank you SNERT

I have a new Wildcat project in the works where I have to use several dies to get it necked down. If I put them in sussesion on the press it would be a simple matter of turning the turret to the next die. I think this would help me a great deal.

Anyone else have a good or bad experience with the T7?

Again thank you.

Hi,
have T7 for about two months now. My old LEE broke down (aluminium linkage), so I wanted something stronger whitout changing dies all the time. This T7 is build like a tank !!! No aluminium parts, I have confidence that this thing will olutlast me. Ram is perfectly machined, absolutelly tight fit, it have almost no clearance, it gives you VERY good feedback, it runs so smoooooth!!! It index PERFECTLY, ram and dies are inline. There is some small amout of flexing (nothing critical, it causes no problems), if you do not like it you can put some very very thin piece of metal plate between touret and chassis of press after you change station. I would buy it again.

Russ,
I have one with a 2nd shell plate. One of the shell plates would bind when you took the center bolt all the way down. I called Redding and they told me to put a piece of emery paper on a flat surface and sand the bushing .0005 at a time. A little trial and error, but now it works fine. In regards to the flexing of the turret, mine is .0017 if I recall correctly. The only press that I feel is superior is the Forester co-ax.
I hope this helps,
Lloyd

Russ,
I have 2 T-7's, one for small primers and one for large primers. I agree with everyone above, a very good press. It will speed things up for you.

I love mine. I use it as a "utility press". I keep resizing mandrels (223, 6mm, 6.5 mm, 7mm), bullet puller, decapping dies, etc. all on one T7, and keep my forster for resizing. Perfect combo.

The faint "flex" is built in, and the turret is square under pressure from ram extension. Just FYI

Sold mine. Got a Forster coax and I love it. It has less flex so I get more consistent shoulder bump, and there is nothing faster to change dies in. The t7 was ok for what it was, just not for me.

I love my T7. It is a workhorse. I highly recommend mounting it on a Dillon strong mount. It bolts right up to the holes in a T7 and is solid and at just the right height to use while standing at my bench (36") from floor.

I have loaded plenty on a co-ax and it is a great press until you try to use a collet bullet puller...

Well Looks like alot of Pluses. I think Ill add it to the stable. I have a Redding Boss, RockChucker, Harrel Benchrest press, and a Bonanza Coax. Plus two Progressives. Hornady and soon the Dillon XL650 when it showes up.
What the heck. Cant have enough loading gear right?

Just wanted to send a thank you to those who have posted. Just mounted my new T7 to the bench and took down my ole Rock Chucker. It may get donated to a new shooter who is in need of a good press to get started loading and shooting.
She's a little stiff yet but Im sure that will work in as I load more ammo on it.

Again thanks fellas.
