Just yesterday I got to ring out my new Surgeon 591 SA in 6.5x47; 10 bullet/powder combination pressure ladders @ 300 yds. Upon ejection, which was quite strong, I noticed each case had a slight flat spot the on the mouth of the case. I've come to learn the ejector spring is 1-2 coils too strong. That's a gunsmith matter.
I'm using the Redding Type S – Full (length) Bushing Die. As it comes from Redding it has two ways to use the decapping rod which is described on the Redding web site
"All Type S dies are supplied with both the standard size button and a decapping pin retainer"
The "STANDARD" size button is what confuses me. I figured it could/would be used to expand the case neck a bit. Mine mics .252" to .255". How in the world is this going to expand the flat spot of the neck back out so the .290" bushing can size it down to where it's supposed to be? Did Redding mess up and send me the wrong size button; which is horribly out of round?
