Redding die question

I have a Redding Competition die set. Before I screw something up I thought I'd ask here.
I use a universal decapping die so want to remove the decapping rod from the Redding die.
Does the decapping rod unscrew from the "Micro head" ?
And if so, will it effect how the bushing operates inside the die ?

Thanks in advance for your comments

Yes, you can remove it. You can even remove the entire assembly if you want to. First thing I do is unscrew the entire assembly and throw it in the die box, never to be seen again. I much prefer using a mandrel in a separate step.

Also, if you have already decapped in a separate step, you don't have to remove the decapping pin if you don't want to. It won't hurt anything to leave it.

My Redding bushing sizing die must be completely different design than the comp die body. Is it because they are neck sizers? Why would there be a different rod/expander? The rod is how you adjust how much of the neck is sized by the bushing ?

If I can remove the decapping rod, I don't think it will effect the bushing. The bushing is inside the sliding portion of the die so should be aligned with the case

For some reason I was thinking it was the Type S die, now I see you did say it's a competition die. I don't have any experience with the competition die, but ftom your pics, I don't see why it would be an issue removing the rod.

No need to remove the decapper. Just pull it up enough that there's no chance of bottoming out. It won't do anything, but it also wont hurt to leave it in (fewer loose parts to lose as well.)
