Redding bushing size ?

I am loading Lapua brass , the measurement on the outside of the neck on a loaded round is .251 so what size bushing do I need to get two thousand neck tension?

Same question but with Lake city brass that measures .248 on a loaded round

When I started with the bushing I bought one, the recommended size. Then I switched bushing brands and I bought three in .001 steps. I did settle on one size, but tested all three and glad I did. Good Luck with it.

Going with .002" under bushing is good rule of thumb - but will depend on how hard your necks are. If you anneal, the .002" will likely be fine. If the brass (Lake City, especially) has been fired a number of times without annealing, I'd go .003" under or at least have one on hand in case you need it. And that is for a bolt gun. If an A/R, I'd go an additional .001" under. It also depends on the size (length) of bullet. A 69 grain in .223, for example, will require less tension than a 40 grain, as there is more surface in contact with the neck. Those 69's I sent should arrive shortly!

Have you considered using a bushing from Short Action Custom ("SAC"). I have always used Redding, but after reading a bunch of reviews I just bought a couple of SAC's to try.

Edit - Reb sorry our messages crossed. Not trying to cause any conflict. I went and made a cup of coffee before hitting send, which must have been while you were posting.
