Redding Big Boss and Big Boss 2 opinions?

Hi again all
Very clever remark LH,I have the problem you point at with my "chinese"RC Supreme, and you're right, the left position for the handle is only half of the solution, what I think they should do is put the slot in the ram on one side(whichever they want)instead of leaving it on the front, because if you can adjust the shell holder by rotating it right or left, you're sitill embarassed when you want to put it on or take it off the ram, because then the front bar is still in your way.Of course it's no big deal, but we're talking top notch gear aren't we,"precisioneered" isn't it?

I think I have decided on getting a Big Boss 2 . Now If Brownells would just give me a shipping price to Canada it would be all good.

Thanks

I don't know if there is any regulations for shipping to Canada but The flat rate applies for shipping to Hawaii. It cost less than $20 to ship the big boss pro pack. Everyone else was over $100

What is everyone's opinions on the Big Boss and Big boss 2 presses? They look heavy duty and look like they would last a long time. What are the and cons? Also anyone know what the threads are in the press body are where the bushing goes in on the top?

Thanks

I just bought a redding big boss ll about a month ago and it is a massive of a beast ,it is like .0060 of a inch tolerance between the ram and frame , which is in the top 5 presses for ram to frame with the least amount of slop very tight ,has a massive ram ,and is well build ,you can't go wrong with this press for sure, there's really no con's

Switched to the Big Boss 2 5-7 years ago after wearing out a Hornady single stage. The Hornady's body (alloy) and ram had play and could be wiggled.

My single stage gets a lot of use. Decapping of everything, sizing, neck mandrel, etc. The Big Boss 2 has really held up well.

My only gripe is that it spits out spent primers a lot. But I put a 2" piece of drinking straw in my shell holders when decapping, and they all go down the tube now.

Go with the Big Boss II. And yes, the occasional spent primer spits out instead of falling through to the drop tube. That is a bit annoying, but maybe someday I'll look for a solution to that.
A 2" piece of drinking straw in the base of the shell holder is a great fix. I only wish I'd thought of it years ago. I think I put a little masking tape on the end of the straw to get a snug fit. Works beautifully.

Of course if you're decapping and priming in the same stroke, this wouldn't work, but I don't do that ever.

I have BB presses to make my own bullets now. I originally had a company that made bullets for the commercial market and bought these presses from David Detsch. I bought about 10 presses over all. One of the presses was so mis-machined I couldn't use it but the rest were perfect. However, I have found that the pins holding everything together for the handle, side plates and ram are so soft that they wear through use. However, they are cheap and I replace them on a regular basis. Overall I am very happy with them and I use them far more than the average reloader.

One small gripe on mine
My other a Lee Classic has an advantage over the Redding --when ram is fully up--I can see the shell holder and the bottom of the die--The Redding is thicker casting and that is "hidden" and makes for fun when setting up various dies Built like a tank but I find myself using the Lee more because of that tiny issue
