Red Dot?

I am looking for a red dot for my Buckmark, but not sure where to start. I know I want a smaller dot 1, maybe 1.5 MOA in size and decent quality, don't want to break the bank, just something for a plinking have some fun gun. It won't get used much so no more than a couple hundred bucks.
Any advice.

I put a Vortex Venom with the 3 MOA dot on my Buckmark.

I was worried about the dot size, but it works really well at all yardages.

I don't believe you would want to go any smaller.

I put a little Bushnell RXS-100 on my 22/45. I think it was like a hundred bucks or so. Works well for Steel Challenge matches. The window is none too big but that's the trade off for the price. I think on a pistol with a non-reciprocating slide, it should hold up easily and last a long time. Slide mounted red dots lead a tortured life. :) 4 MOA dot if I remember right. It's very usable.

The Leupold DPP is wonderful IMHO but 4x the money. I run them on my Carry Optics guns for USPSA.

Holosun. Easy controls to use. I have a 407K on a Sig P365XL and I like it much better than the Sig Zero I have on a cheapie KelTec P17.

I have big hands and I have to get a pen to reach in and adjust brightness on the Sig because my finger won't fit under the hood to reach it. No pen = No fun.

I bought a Vortex Venom and it arrived not working straight out of the box. I opted for a refund and replacement with the Holosun.

You can get the Holosun 407C-X2 with a 2 moa dot, but I personally like the 6 moa for the type shooting I do. I suggest getting the green dot. I like it MUCH better than a red dot.

I put a Burris fastfire 3 with a 3moa dot on my Ruger MKIV. I'm not sure I could pick up a smaller dot than that. I think I found it for less than $200 if I remember correctly.

I have a Bushnell First Strike and Vortex Venom(double the money). The vortex has a sharper dot, less flare into surrounding glass in less than bright sunlight. Both supposed to be 3 moa but the viper dot appears as much as half the size depending on conditions.

I've got Holosun, Burris, Leupold, Vortex, and C-more as well as some other off brand types, all red dots. Each has a different purpose, or I prefer certain ones for different types of shooting.

I do want to try one of the green dots in the near future.

The ones I like best are the ones you do not have to unmount to change the battery. The off brands that I have that must be removed to change the battery, I don't really care for since IME they never return to zero after a battery change...not off a bunch, but off nonetheless.

I use shake awake on my carry gun, others have switches or auto off after a few/several hours.

Do you want different reticles? Will you be happy with just a dot? Are you okay with friction adjustments...or do/will you prefer click type adjustments? Some are definitely brighter than others as well.

I suggest trying to find friends who have them in order to gather some exposure before purchasing if possible.

What's your intended use? Steel Challange: C-more with larger dot.
Other: any decent will do, stay away from cheap dots, not worth aggravation.

My thanks to all whom have responded.
It appears they range in all sizes and prices, so I will continue to research.
My use is strictly for a plinker, no hunting, no self defense, just fun. I think I still have a couple of BSA's somewhere may dig one out to see if it still works, but not now, fighting the flu just not up to par.

that is just a game, competition, not the rest of life. i used an aimpoint 1 moa when i shot pistol competition.
yes it is just an opinion till it is published with FACTS and DATA
