recommended ring height

Hi guys , I've a zeiss conquest 3-12x50 .

Browning x bolt 22 inch barrel

What mount height would you recommend ?

Low.mediums or high ?

Cheers

The higher the mounts the longer your max. point blank range will be and the lower your mounts the closer your line of sight is to the bore. What you should get from that is to use the mounts that put the scope where it comes up the easiest and fastest.

Reasons you would want higher rings:

1 - your objective lens won't fit without hitting the barrel

2 - ergonomics. Either you have a raised cheekpiece and need the scope up higher to get a picture at all, or you shoot mainly offhand (think steel silhouette or maybe some kinds of hunting) and want to keep your head more upright to maintain your balance. OR you shoot benchrest and are trying not to touch the stock with your cheek at all so the rifle can free-recoil (doesn't sound like what you're doing).

With a 50mm objective lens, low rings are out. Medium might work, but might be very close. Make sure the objective bell is not touching anywhere. If it is, trade out for high rings.
