Recommended powders 22 CM

Hi all ,

Looking for accurate powder choices for the 22Creed , I have Reload Swiss RS 62 and RS 60(R17) on my shelf . VV powders are easily available , the majority of Reloder powders are unobanium .
Intended bullet use will not exceed 80 grain , my stock includes 80 eld-m, 69 nosler cc and 55 sbk .
Apologies if this has been asked before , a quick search didn't really give me any answers .

Cheers guys .

longridge pretty much nailed it. Anything that works well in the 6.5 will work well in the 22. Since you are staying on the lighter side of things I would venture a guess the faster powders may give you better results. H4350 really is hard to beat though.

Thanks guys , sadly H4350 is no longer available over here as is Varget i, they're not REACH compliant . Hopefully, RS62 will perform well as it's comparable to H4350 .

A big "Thankyou" to the EU for protecting us from ourselves . . Their crap is still spilling over into British legislation.

Mine, with 75 ELD'S, likes RL22 best. I don't believe I ever tried N160, but that would be a good one to try.

I have loaded some 62 gr. ELD-VT, Berger 85.5 LR hybrid target and 75 gr. ELD-M rounds with N555 and I was really impressed with the results. It's a great backup powder to H4350 for me.

I have a 22 CM myself.

For the 75-80 gr class bullets slower powders are better, IE slower than H4350. H4350/N555 or RL16 would work quite well with the 60-69 gr class.

My primary bullet in the 22 Creed is the 80 ELDX and ELDM. I tried Superformance, H4350, N555, N560, N565, H1000, and Ramshot Magnum.

H1000 and N565 were too bulky and their burn rate was a little bit slow for max velocity. Conversely H4350 and N555 were a little too fast.

N560 generated good velocities, OUTSTANDING accuracy and optimal case fill with no pressure signs. I got a consistent 3250 fps from a 24" Shilen.

For lighter bullets H4350 worked very well. I was able to get a Nosler 64 gr BSB to 3550-3600 without pushing it at all. I would assume similar results would be achievable with a 69 gr HPBT.

N-560 is your friend. I've used a lot of RL-26 in them also. They are both excellent.

Care to share your velocities in the swift with the 64s using N160 ?
I need to run my latest batch over the chrono.
My last “batch” shot good and were right at 3700 +- but I felt like pressure was too high.
I backed off a full grain and I’m getting similar accuracy but have not had the chance to chrono. I’m guessing 3600 give or take. I do like the N160, it’s clean burning.
