Recommended Electronic ear muffs?

To add to the original posting, what about amplified (electronic) ear plugs? Creedmoor Sports had some that they featured in an email. I don't remember the brand right now. It seems like Creedmoor dropped it and I do not know why.

I have two pairs. One pair is Walker's. They work but are battery eater if you forget to shut them off. My other pair is Howard Leights. I prefer them over the Walker's. I wear the muffs as they seem to work better for me but they get hot if your outside.

I have Sordins and Pro Ears Gold

The Sordins have a better build quality. The Pro Ears Gold headband is plastic

The noise reduction and electronics are better on the Pro Ears though.

That being said, I use the Sordins almost every time over the Pro Ears

I have a pair of Sordins that drive me nuts. There's a problem with the battery compartment contacts. Not to mention it's a wacky compartment design. Whoever designed the compartment is probably the same person who put SAAB's ignition key on the floor between the seats.

Every couple of times I turn them on, they don't work. I have to remove the batteries and put them back in to get the muffs to turn on. Sordin customer service in Sweden is a colossal PITA. They claim a 5 year warranty but won't accept the muffs back for repair. They push me to the US supplier. The US supplier says they can't fix them, talk to Sordin.

I like the muffs when they work, but I'd sure caution would-be purchasers of the risk should something fail. I'm about to design a small Li Ion battery and charger and substitute it for the battery compartment. Recharge the battery through a USB-C connector. But that will take some fiddling and time I don't want to spend right now.

I like my Peltor's. a pair of AA batteries is good to go for a full days
match and a few day's of range sessions. I always keep a fresh pack
in the range bag. Mine are also blue tooth capable although i never
use it.....

I've had MSA Sordin's for years. I don't know what the expectations are, but they provide inadequate noise abatement unless plugs are used in conjunction. Under cover, or shooting a lone, I use large bell muffs with plugs. I was having trouble with the battery compartments. Sent them to srstactical.com in FLA for repair. They repaired one set, and sent the other back as it didn't need repairs. The cables on both sets have cracked and exposed the wire. This causes squealing that is resolved by bending them into a position that stops the squeal, and taping. SRS suggested I buy a new set before repairing the cables, as it's expensive. Again, I haven't tried other electronic muffs, so don't know how good it should be.

Haven't received them yet but bought these Walker's. No more batteries.

Edit: The Prohear headset are big but are more for using gasoline equipment. Not shooting.

Thanks for the tip about srstactical.com @MS50 ! Much appreciated. It appears your trouble with the battery compartment is the same as my issue. Sordin even said I had a battery compartment problem, wouldn't send me the part. Nor would they accept the muffs for repair. I'm glad to hear that srstactical may be the answer.

Very happy with mine also

I have a pair of Howard Leight noise cancelling headphones for over 6 years and they have never failed me. They do eat batteries if you forget to turn them off. NR is plenty for most situations short of a guy with a magnum rifle with a brake on sitting next to you. In those cases, I double up with ear plugs. The best feature is that they are super slim and do not interfere with my cheek weld on the butt stock.

Just got the new Walkers rechargeable razors from Amazon as linked above in post #14 and used them at the range this morning running a match. They pick up conversation better than the older AAA battery model I have been using and were always killing the batteries. I think if I just remember to charge them every few days of use they should be good.

I had that problem. Complained enough that they sent a new pair at no charge.
