Recommendations on Metal Coatings

I just purchased a Duplin Rorer bipod. It has the Anschultz rail attachment on it so I ordered a blank rail from Competition Shooters. In talking with them, they indicated that the rail was bare metal unlike the picture in their catalog.
Any one have a recommendation for coating the aluminum rail? Is there something out there that does not require me having to send it to a Anodizer? Finish I am looking for is black to match the rest of the gun.

Touch up spray gun and an oven. Relatively easy prep and application. Cerakote is tough as nails.

Unless you plan to Cerakote numerous items, you'll be money ahead by paying someone to spray it for you.

For such a small job I would just send it to someone that sprays Cerakote.

Were it me I'd get with a shop that does anodizing and have it hard anodized. Most anything you use is going to chip off or wear but that would be the most durable.

I have come to that conclusion as well. Instead of wasting my time with other coatings, I am just going to get a shop to Anodize it for me. Got it in the mail last night, laid out the holes and got them punches for mounting. My counter sink wouldn't fit between the rails so I have to get a different type tonight on my way home from work.
