Placement of Duplin Rorer Bipod

I recently purchased a Duplin Rorer bipod for my FTR. I had to build a rail that attached to my XLR chassis hand guard and placed it as far forward to balance and support against the 30" heavy Benchmark barrel I also just got.
My first time out to the range, I found it difficult to reach the height wheel to adjust height.
To reach I would have to move the rail and bipod back away from the end of the guard about 4-6 inches.
I am concerned that with the weight of the barrel that may throw the gun off balance.

What are your thoughts?

Learn to get it adjusted during the prep period. If you have to make a lot of adjustments after you begin shooting, your position or equipment are not solid the way they need to be. Some people use arrow shafts to give them an extended reach, but I think perfecting your setup is a better solution. It took me a while to figure out how to do this, but now I rarely touch the bipod after prep. A big part of success is having a stable rear bag and front platform: carpet, board, etc. Also, there is backlash in the mechanism. So press down on the barrel when lowering it to remove the backlash.

OK will work on that. Thank you, I admit that I was like a duck out of water trying to get everything set the first time with it at the range.

Thanks for the input.

I've seen people use an aluminum arrow shaft to turn the wheels when they can't reach them. Personally I can almost reach the muzzle, but not everyone is "blessed" with my reach.

Pat I have also found with my rear bag I pack it as tight as I can to keep the gun from settling so you don’t have to keep adjusting the wheel, keep playing with it and you will figure it out.

I have seen people doing this at the competitions. When I purchased the Rorer, I also purchased a proper rear bag. First time at the range with the Rorer included the new bag and a my new barrel. Definitely a different feel than I had been use to. Looking forward to, as you say, working it out. Looking forward to my first match with the new set up on December 9th.
Thanks very much for the help and especially to you Otis for the Rorer.
